In a parallel universe where there's always daylig

In a parallel universe where
there's always daylight,
I fear what the stars might feel.

Unrequited love?
Or taken for granted?
Right there in the sky,
but never to be seen?
Invisible while existent?

My greater fear lies in
that universe, however.
If they never see darkness,
they'll never know what
it takes to glow in the dark.

Do they conceal their scars
beneath their sleeves?
Just like those stars
in perpetual daylight?

Oh, I pity them.
 Glow-in-the-dark.
