The Promise... I still remember that time. I was 10 years old. My dad's family came to visit us, all the way from Bombay. My aunty had cancer. 3rd Stage. She was one of the most beautiful women that I had ever seen. There was a warmth about her that I never understood. One day, I saw her taking injections in her room. Tears ran down her soft cheeks. The 10 year old me couldn't sustain the curiosity. I went in and asked, "Why are you taking injections? They must be very painful. Do you have to?" She smiled and said, "To Live". "What?" I asked innocently. She sighed and repeated, "To Live". This time, I understood. I quietly left her room. She was taking more injections. But it was strange. Her words..."To Live" sounded more like "To Leave".
