Dowry Who hasn’t heard of ‘dowry?’ Where money

Dowry

Who hasn’t heard of ‘dowry?’
Where money is charged from the bride’s family
Some of them call it a culture,
A ritual- proud enough to be nurtured!

It’s a shame for the society,
Where the girl is tormented
With this matter since times immemorial,
Reformers have been offended.

A price in lieu of bringing up a boy,
All over these years,
The girl is totally devastated
And always in the shackles of fears.

Proud are the parents of the son,
Who torment the girl’s family,
The girl is exploited until her death,
At last abandoned to live lonely.

Stop dowry! Stop the sins
Stop the girls from dying,
Catch those red-handed, who promise
But eventually end up, lying.

“ families,
Dowry is a social evil
Born of narrow mentalities.
