If for three continuous years the the contributions are not made to the dear departed then the dead gets angry, so to claim them these contributions are made. Tripindi Shraddha is ritual which is done to achieve something like familiar and material things. So tripindi shraddha is called โ€œKamya Shraddhaโ€. As per shraddha kamalakar scripture, it is said that shraddha of forefather should be done 72 times in a year. If shraddha is not done for many years forefathers remain unhappy. Everybody must do shraddha for their ancestors.
