Presently I am in Maharashtra away from my land Bihar due to my work and career. You will be surprised to know that even though I am from Bihar, I do not know how to use my mother tongue in colloquial style, whether it is Bhojpuri, Magahi, Maithili or other languages of Bihar and I never tried to learn it but gave up. Me and the people of my family use 100% Hindi language in the style of continuous conversation, due to which I do not understand the words of our language many times. When I used to be at home, my imagination was such that after watching serials and movies, people from Mumbai side, people of Maharashtra use more Hindi than us but since I came here, I have got this idea. It became known that people here give the value of their mother tongue first for everything, that too in the name of everything, be it festivals, fruits, vegetables etc. In all things, many times I do not even understand those things. I never gave much importance to my language, I myself found it strange, but after coming here, I know if we connect with any culture on any earth, then first we should connect with the language there. I used to stay here in Maharashtra in a girls' PG where all of us girls get together at night after getting tired of our daily routine. As usual, we gathered together for dinner yesterday and we were talking amongst ourselves, when one of them Maharashtrian asked me; "How is Bhojpuri, I have not heard till today", I used to say something before that another Maharashtrian pronounced Bhojpuri by saying "lol", at that time I was completely stunned, why so? While our words are more similar to our Hindi than they are, they still have Marathi pronunciation for each word? I had a little argument with that girl on this matter. Then after going somewhere I came to understand that this mistake is not of that girl but of our people living in Bihar. In our province, like using Bhojpuri and Magahi languages is considered as a sin, we ourselves consider it wrong to use this language, feel inferior, we ourselves hurt the respect of our mother tongue. Learning new languages is a good thing, but as long as you think only of your mother tongue as bad, then what is the use of learning other languages. Let's go to know the three major languages of Bihar.

Bhojpuri- Bhojpuri is such a language without whose songs, every party, every festival, every fun of the whole country, whether it is of a family, home, school, college, still people make fun of every place. Sometimes it is the song of Chhath Puja or sometimes there is so much beauty of weddings in these songs.

Maithili- Maithili means the language of Mithila, Mithila the land from which the story of Rama started, where Mother Sita was born who is worshiped all over the world for years. This language is derived from our oldest language Sanskrit.

Magahi- Magahi is the colloquial style and language of the people of Magadha, Magadha This place may be known to every people of the world, not India, Magadha which has a history in itself, where the great descendants of Indian history ruled, Be it the Brihadratha dynasty, the Maurya Empire, the Nanda Empire, the Harayaka dynasty; Many descendants ruled this holy land of Magadha. Whether it is Buddha attaining enlightenment or King Dasharatha attaining salvation, all these histories were composed on the holy land of Magadha. The sweetness and familiarity that one gets to see in the dialects here may be seen in any other language. Naturally you will get to see our culture, ancient tradition, harmony, love, friendship among the people.
