Anagha Ukaskar

I'm currently university student and I started writing when I was in 3rd class. I write in Marathi, Hindi and English. šŸ„° Writing brings me joy. It's always been something that comes out on paper naturally. My first poetry book "Helianthus" is now available in paperback version on Amazon and Flipkart, in pdf on bookleaf's official website. my IG : i_dead_of_write_ šŸ–‡ļøšŸ‘‡šŸ»

White I'm used to bending backwards,
always on display
I'm used to smiling through curves,
hoping they'll stay
I'm used to giving all,
though they rarely care
I'm used to chasing the shadows,
feeling lost in the air

I'm used to saying yes,
 while my heart feels sore
I'm used to hiding my needs,
 as I open every door
I'm used to feeling like a ghost,
in rooms where I don't belong
I'm used to thinking love is earned,
in a world that feels so wrong

I'm used to hoping for a moment,
just a spark of light
I'm used to feeling like a puzzle,
missing pieces out of sight
I'm used to waiting for a call,
that never seems to come
I'm used to knowing deep down,
that Iā€™m not the only one

White You taught me to distance myself
From people and these emotions
When you let go of my hand
In the morning that was precious
Though I was wrapped in a blanket
And the windows were shut tight,
I felt the coldness shiver in my body
And my fingers shake in fright
The sweet smile you gave me
Has now become salty tears
I lie down completely devastated
But you know that no one cares
And I accept everything
I wish you happiness, too
But I will not be the same again
I let go of everyone but you!

White "And they obey"

Smash down the dreams
Break the walls of heyday
Piles of white flowers
Black ribbons, too much say
Echoes of laughter fade,
Shadows linger and hearts betray
In silence, he walks alone
Lost in the price of fame's display
Empty stages, hollow cheers
Awaiting light of the day
Trembling voices, masked fears
As some turn their backs away
Make them lose and forget the light
Show the things that make them sway

White The moonlight shines tonight,
I gently slide the firm window bars
Under my feet is mud and grass
I look up and see thousand stars

I return to my bed, thinking of you
Your hand reaches out to the skies
But my hopeless dream never takes flight
I am worse than you, a thousand times

To me, you are God
You never give up, in any worse case
Sweat has always poured down your face
And I am still lazy, a thousand less

I wake up the next day, thinking of you
I want to give up and leave this world too
But someday, I will soar high as you
In front of me is sunshine, thousand new

White "If we lived in mountains"

If we had moved out to some small mountain place,
We would plant roses and oranges on that land,
We would bring heaven on this earth,
And I would reach the stars with just my hand.
I wouldn't be lonely when the foxes howl at night,
In this city where only pollution passes by.
Late at night, with someone I care for,
I would just lie down on the ground and watch the sky.
Eating warm homemade food from familiar plates,
Chatting about what happened today in that small town,
As the cicadas buzz me to in just a few minutes,
I would be the happiest queen even without the crown.

White There should be more to life
Than fear of survival.
She should be strong,
Not helpless or vulnerable.

There should be birds,
Singing her songs and melodies,
There should be comedy
To erase all tragedies.

There should be paintings,
Depicting end of this world.
There should be flowers
To celebrate a new one.

White 22 years ago,
There must have been flowers,
Blooming love and happiness.
A rain washing the town,
August's gentle embrace.
There must have been tears,
Running down the happy faces.
A chit-chat about newborn,
And their previous guesses.
There must have been celebration
For the child, most awaited.
There must have been favouritism
For the only sister gifted.
She must have lived a fairytale,
The one to be told.
The day when I was born,
Like this, I hold.

White "The world must die
For my happiness to live"
I came to this conclusion,
I made myself believe
Before I flipped the coin
And I saw the other side,
Where lived the confidence
And people with pride.
There wasn't shame or
The concept of right and wrong,
Where skin tone didn't matter
Or the language of any song,
Where I could say and do what I like,
Where I wouldn't be judged
For the things that bring me joy
And they wouldn't budge
By all the questions "who" and "why",
All the constant eyes
For simply loving someone,
And something for my skies
Which used to be dark
And lonely to the core,
But have became clear,
Now shine often and more.
But it's just a sweet dream,
Another side of the coin
Which can't be flipped yet
Since it's not just mine,
I'll just wait for the change
To be free to smile
Without being asked for the reason,
Every once in a while.
And it all would be easier
To be able to live in,
And it wouldn't have to be burned
For my happiness to win.

White We have flowers, we have rain,
We have blessings, we have pain,
We have rare evening views,
We all await night's muse,
We sip tea and morning calls,
We get busy with Sun's hauls,
We love the window and the wind,
Crystals and chimes that we pinned,
We love the yellow rays in spews,
As much as we love the blues,
We hear the song of the birds,
And the little neighbor's words,
It is still, yet rushed...
A quiet day in August.
