Fake Smile

Looking myself at the mirror,
I hold the corners of my lips,
with my trembling fingertips,
and try to curve it into a smile.
But the muscles fall straight, again.🧤

My heart is burdened with so many words left unspoken,
but I choose to be silent.
I want to have a few people's company,
but I prefer to be alone.
My broken soul is dying to shed all those tears,
but I fake a smile just to hide my fears.🧤

People say there are others who have worse things to go through.
They say I've a loving family and amazing friends to cheer me up.
Good grades and social status to keep my self esteem high.
And thats where they miss my problems,
leaving me to die.🧤

So I put a fake smile,
and so many filters from my side,
just to stop them from judging me.
I build a wall around me,
so high that you cant even peep inside.
I split myself into two personalities,
one that everyone reading this watches,
and the other that only the late night knows.🧤

I wish I could convince myself,
"Its okay to be weak somedays,
its normal to cry your heart out sometimes.
Its fine to be not bold enough to face the world.
Its normal to feel living as a struggle."
But convincing myself,
thats where I feel the trouble.🧤

Fears Can't Stop Us

"Join your legs, sit like a girl".
"Talk less. Why don't you behave like a girl?".
Girls never get matured easily,
we are just put under so much burden by the society.👒

So many restrictions for us,
since the weaker gender we seem to be.
They told me to dress properly so that boys will see me with respect.
But did they ever taught those guys to respect me not on the basis of what I wear,
but on how I behave and what I expect?👒

People say not listening to them can cause me ravage,
so I lock myself at home after sunset.
Wear my skirts long and don't show my cleavage.
Don't make any noise,
since girls are supposed to be like that.👒

They say to get a life partner like Ram,
but was he successful in protecting Sita from those tests of insults?
Since childhood we have heard of Ravan as a villain full of hatred.
But he had made all that Ramayan happen,
just for his sister's self respect.👒

Go and ask a teen girl,
if she was ever bullied by a group of guys,
Or if she was harassed by the eyes of a man,
having vision of terror.
Or if she has ever felt that unwanted touch,

And if she answers all these with a "No",

Recently I've come across sa guy,
Sweeter then most of the boys i know.
He seems to be as normal as anybody else,
but i dont know why people still call him different.🌈

The Perfectly Imperfect Me

I looked at the mirror,
possibly for the last time before the event.
Even my makeup couldn't hide my dark circles,
and made me look like a patient.
I hated myself.❣

I saw the girl jogging in the chilly weather,
her slim figure and perfect body
made me feel myself as a corny, ugly and charred lady.
I hated myself already.❣

With all that fortissimo background,
his voice still sounded loud.
Everyone was mesmerized by his melodious voice.
And here I stood whose voice sounded like fortified command.
I wished I could change myself.❣

Saw her perfect dance steps,
Or that boy's full marks in every subject.
And that friend's aromatic items.
I started to feel envious about these things,
and started to hate myself for not even being to envisage my dreams.❣

Sitting at my desk
and scribbling these words
in the last pages of my diary,
I took a glance of the beautiful midnight moon.
Even it seems to have scars of its own.❣

I looked at myself in the mirror,
and realized that my flaws weren't so bad.
Neither my imperfect body
nor my failed qualities made me feel mad.
I might not be the topper,
