SWEET SABBATH

It was before the owls sneezed,
Before they cast their rhymes upon the hills,
Before they read the language of the dark sky,
Before they sang their songs
through the reeds,
I went down on my knees.
And then I closed my eyes
and gazed beyond
my own needs,
Until I met with the unseen
upon His holy seat,
And He talked to me in
His ancient beats,
Saying, "Oh, son,
remain at My sacred feet,
for My Sabbath
is dearly sweet."

THE RHYMES IN ME

Outside by the hill and rocky side
Lies a young vineyard farm that I long to abide
I bet the owner of this farm is too bright

As I ride on wings of a golden butterfly
I feel the little rain falling from the sky
This makes my heart and mind right

I'm like a singing dove upon the branch of that junior vine
For the aroma of her armpits kindly binds
It is strong like simsim perfume by the night

I will always try just to make you smile
And before the evening shadows hide
I will fry some chips for you, that you ever like

Many are walking in the street thinking that they are high
Just like the River Jordan filled with saline
But I know you are my only pride

Winter will pass the coastline
breaking down an ancient crystalline
So, I will never leave you behind

I know loving you requires me to pay the price
This is one thing I will never deny;
For I believe love must be something divine

Oh, my love, hear these poetic rhymes
My passion for you will never die
Although some elders paint their white hairs
with modern dye

THE FALSE KING

What man, bitter and cunning, awaits?
What man sweeps the country's face with a spade?
What man robs mothers of their smiles?
What man causes great harm to his own citizens' arms
What man builds his throne with other people's crowns
What man dines alone and forces others to feed on stones
What man of a thirsty soul crowned a false king?
Oh, his voice I do not hear
and his footprints I do not see
On the hills, in the valleys, and in the mountains
I asked the fox by the gate

A SONG FOR YOU TONIGHT

Let me sing to you tonight
Ten thousand lilies upon the hill alike
Fair is the eventide with rainbow high
I will fly before the wind, beyond your height
I can't tell a lie, there's fire in your eyes

Cold is the wind that rises from the sea
The sun that rules the day
The moon that governs the night
And the stars that joyfully sing across the darkest sky
All these remind me of your face

The shooting stars that race through the blue night
The clouds of June, full of rain, ride high
The thunder that breaks through the terrane line
All these remind me of your beautiful smile

The festival of butterflies and birds upon the fig tree
The junior sunflower that follows the sun
from east to west until the rays disappear
You are a daisy's petal, I love you for that

THE LINES OF MAY

O autumn song
Favourite lute, Rose of the Vale
Priceless jewel, evening rhymes
Purest gold, precious diamond
Crystal goblet, band of stars
Morning dew, charming butterfly
My treasure trove, and the dove that soars
Your angelic face beams with the purest light
like the sun at noon and the moon at night
Like trillions of new-born shooting stars
across the blue

White A NATION IN PERIL

Look at the mothers, robbed of their voice
Silenced by a sea that doesn't give them a tea
Their dreams banished, their hopes denied
A nation at peril given to a host of ills

Look at the children, denied a chance
To see a future filled with joy
Their innocence stolen, their childhood lost
In a sea that doesn't care about the cost

Look at the fathers, mistreated like slaves
Forced to toil in the shadows of their blood
Their love diminished, their peace crushed
Their rights refused, their homes on fire

Look at the nation, a dumping zone
Where corruption and greed have grown
Where the rats reign
And the voiceless are left to scream

AUTUMN SONG

O my autumn song
My favourite lute, Rose of the Vale
My priceless jewel, my evening rhymes
My only gold, my old diamond
My morning dew, My butterfly
My treasure trove, and dove that soars
Your angelic face beams with the purest light
like the sun in noon and the moon by night
Like trillions of stars up in the blue
Smiling down upon one million eyes
And deep down unto my heart

THE GAZE UPON A ROSE

In the heart of the morning
Before the sun is fully awake
Before the dew is still on the grass
Before the clouds march off to war
Before the owl escapes the ancient light
Before the rays pass through the caves
I feel the warmth of a blessed morning
And sense the gentle music of birds
on the magic branches of a wild locust tree
I see the mountain adorned with smiles and love
And I cast my gaze
upon a rose’s charming petals
soft and pink
