Shradh occasion J - 2 Finally shradh occasion is over today but let's see some story's or Do & Don't etc. Do not start any auspicious work in the Pitru Paksha, giving the body to the fathers gives the family longevity, fame and nails and haircutting on the Pitru Paksha is prohibited. Keep these special things in mind on your father's side Never let anyone in your ancestral house know without drinking water. If someone is asking for water, then sweeten it with water. It is believed that Pitru in any form comes to get food and water from you. Cow, dog, cat, crow must all eat these in Shradh. These are ancestral forms. In Pitru Paksh, eat plain food. Do not consume non-vegetarian or tamasic things. Do not touch alcohol and drugs at all. Do not allow discord in the house. Do pay attention to these small but very important things in Shraddha, so that you do not fall prey to the wrath of the fathers. After reaching Veergati in the battle of Mahabharata, when Karna reached heaven, he was served gold in food. Karna questioned this, Indra Dev told him that he donated gold in life, but never donated food. Then Karna told Indra that he did not know about his ancestors, hence he could never donate anything. This knowledgeable Indra gave Karna a chance to rectify his mistake and was sent back to Earth for 15 days, where he remembered his ancestors and donated food to him by paying obeisance to him. These 15 days period is called Pitru Paksha or shradh.
