held too many memories. One last lingering look, she set forth down the lane. Some bird screeched close by, Usha gave a piercing look in the direction of the noise, and continued walking till she reached the end of the lane. The main road ran parallel to the lane and was relatively deserted at this time of the night except for the odd scooterist or truck rambling by. She adjusted her pallu, streaked with crimson. She walked to the middle of the road and waved her arms about, at an incoming car. The car braked and came to halt. The nonplussed driver came out to inspect what had happened and looked here and there for the lady who was waving at him. He couldn't see anyone, getting scared by the minute. He recalled being told about this stretch of road being haunted. The ghost of a lady jilted by her lover was said to roam the streets. She had died a painful death at the hands of her lover, and was said to be seeking revenge towards all men. The driver hurriedly drove away, he couldn't see the lady in white in his backseat grinning maniacally. For her the night had just begun, a gruesome one for the poor fellow caught in a time loop of thwarted love and vengeance. Here's a #collab prompt for #YoStoWriMo.
