White THE WOMAN ACROSS THE STREET RECAP Robin’s glance fell on a woman across the street. He saw her holding a wine glass and a book through her window. She was dancing. But suddenly, she raised her hand as if resisting some action. Within seconds, her wine glass fell down, and she, too, fell like a lifeless leaf. Robin rushed to inform the watchman of the building and was shocked when the watchman said that a woman had been murdered around two months ago in that apartment. The investigation team had found a broken wine glass and a book near her body. The similarities in the watchman’s narration and what he saw made Robin rooted to the spot. When the watchman asked Robin the reason behind his approach, he stated that he felt someone needed help, hiding the reality he witnessed. He thought that it may create unnecessary confusion. The watchman advised him not to imagine things. The apartment is empty. Only a couple of hours before the investigation, they had routinely inspected the apartment. Taking a deep breath, Robin returned to his apartment. THE WOMAN ACROSS THE STREET – PART 2 "Noted, and thanks," Robin said before proceeding to his apartment. He refrained from mentioning what he saw, which might have created unnecessary ripples. "Oh my God," Robin sighed as he opened the door to his apartment. He sat on the sofa and reminisced about the past day as he whispered, "After arriving home at noon, I was exhausted, and the next moment, I found myself in his bed, drifting into a deep . Perhaps the security officer was correct in assuming that I was imagining things. The woman I saw across the street might just be a dream, given that I had crossed the street shortly after waking up, and did I really have my tea before leaving? Or was it also a dream?" He brainstormed all possibilities and pulled the curtain aside, only to see the apartment with closed windows and slid curtains and lights off with nothing visible inside. He chuckled, turned around and declared, "It was indeed a dream." He then took a deep sigh before closing the curtain. As he made his way towards the kitchen, he felt a prickling sensation under his foot, and his gaze landed on a broken tea cup. He felt the spilled-over tea on the floor and began to wonder how it fell and broke, and then he realized that after he woke up, he did have his tea. To confirm, he walked into the kitchen and found a tea strainer sieve with wet tea powder in the sink, which confirmed that the tea wasn't a dream and that he, in fact, had his tea, irrespective of whether he had left his apartment or not. Robin picked up a glass, filled it with water, and as he began to drink, he assumed, "Oh my God, if I had tea, then I surely might have tried to close the curtain, which normally I do as the sun sets. But why is the broken tea cup on the floor? Did it fall out of my hands? If yes, then how did the tea cup fall? What made me throw the tea cup down?" Again, all types of ifs and buts began to take shape in his mind as he tried to connect the dots. "Oh no! Robin yelled as he finally could figure out the answer to all his questions and rushed to slide open the curtain again. To be continued... ©Krishnan #mystery #suspense #microtale #ShortStory

The woman across the street ( PART 1) Around 7.00pm, Robin tried to slide the window curtain. His glance fell on a woman's silhouette behind a curtain of an apartment across the street. She seemed to be holding a wine glass in one hand and a book in the other, dancing to a tune. The curtain was wavering in the wind, and the window was open. In between, he could see inside the apartment as the curtain swayed up and down. Robin smiled and was about to close the curtains when he saw the woman suddenly raising her hand in a hostile manner, holding the wine glass as if resisting some action. This resulted in her wine glass falling down. Within minutes, he saw her fall down like a lifeless leaf, and the view sent shivers down his spine. Thinking she needed help, he immediately rushed across the street, into the opposite building and met the watchman. Robin was panting as he requested the watchman, "Please rush into the flat on the 10th floor, extreme left." Before he could complete it, the watchman interrupted, "Sir, it's been empty for over two months. A ballet dancer used to stay there, and one Saturday night, she was shot down and murdered. The investigation is still going on." Robin nearly jumped out of his skin when he heard what the building watchman had to say. "Oh no", he sighed and asked the watchman, "Did anyone get any clue near to her body?" "Nothing so far, other than a broken wine glass and a book," the watchman answered. Looking at Robin, he questioned, "Why did you instruct me to rush to that apartment?" "I thought, I saw someone calling for help," Robin replied. Looking at Robin, the watchman stressed, "Please don't imagine things." There's no one in that apartment. Around an hour ago, the officials investigated the area around the apartment. After closing it, they handed me the keys, and I cannot enter without an authorized permit. "Noted, and thanks," Robin said before proceeding to his apartment. He refrained from mentioning what he saw, which might have created unnecessary ripples. "Oh my God," Robin sighed as he opened the door to his apartment. - To be continued... ©Krishnan #Woman #suspense #microtale #short_Story #ShortStory #mystery

Rima I stood in the corridor of my college, looking out at the trees through the raindrops. Even during those college days, my primary passion was writing. My friends walked past and suggested I join them for a short snack at the college canteen. I just couldn't leave the rain behind with a poem taking shape. The rain and the trees swaying in the wind prompted me to think about a poem. I advised my friends to carry on. Earlier today, we had finished the English literature class, and the topic was W.H. Hudson's 'Green Mansions', and the character 'Rima' impressed me a lot. I felt very sorry for her since she perished in a fire. But I changed the plot for me and made Abel rescue her from the fire. Since then, I have begun to see Rima in one of our classmates, and she has also been my inspiration due to her relaxed attitude. But she is entirely ignorant about my feelings towards her. The image for my poem was forming in my mind. I imagined her walking near the tree with an umbrella. As she reaches below the tree, she hears her name being called out. The drizzling of the rain continued, and she looked up. It was Rima who stepped down from the tree. "She then asks Rima, Do I know you?" Rima slowly turns her head towards me. The poem's stanza and words were taking shape in my head, and the rhyme was falling into place flawlessly, just like each drop of rain. Suddenly, I sensed a lovely fragrance behind me and heard her voice say, "Hey Krish, what's taking shape in your mind? Is it Rima ?" My heart skipped a beat! ©Krishnan #microtale #Rima #ShortStory #Relationship #writer

A beautiful evening! It was a beautiful evening; the waves danced to the tune of the gentle breeze that was blowing around the beach. I got my legs wet, playing with the waves, and decided to rest, looking towards the crimson-red sunset on the horizon. A girl of around five years was building a castle in the sand and a tunnel to access the castle. She had done with the castle but could not complete the tunnel; the sand was crumbling down. I saw her trying at least ten times. Sometimes, she sat thinking with her chin resting on her fist, but she never gave up. In between, she looked at me and smiled. The sun changed its plan to rest and waited for her to complete it. As she walked into the waves, she collected water in her little hands and poured it to tighten the sand. She repeated it several times, and finally, she succeeded. The smile on the little face was the moment of the day. I still remember that innocent, cute smile of success. The sun continued on its path to the horizon, and beautiful lyrics swept through my mind. "आती हैं आंधियां तो कर उनका खैर मकदम तूफां से ही तो लड़ने खुदा ने तुझे गढ़ा है ये मत कहो खुदा से मेरी मुश्किलें बड़ी हैं इन मुश्किलों से कह दो मेरा खुदा बड़ा है" Indeed, that was a beautiful evening, which smiled at me! ©Krishnan #microtale #littlegirl #Smile #Inspiration #moments #evening #SunSet

The Waves… ( PART 1) "Don't you want to wait here before walking away?" Raj immediately turned sideways to find out who was speaking. He saw a lady in her late 20s sitting on a rock and looking at waves splashing on the shore. He looked around to see if anyone else was there. "I'm asking you only." The lady reminded him. "Yes, but how do you know my intentions?" "Because I have seen you here numerous times." She answered. "But I haven't seen you before," Raj pointed out. "That's because you keep looking at the waves, ignoring everyone passing through." She clarified and continued. "You look deep into the sea for around ten minutes before walking away. I, too, come here almost for the same reason." Raj smiled and sat on the beach, looking deep into the sea, before walking away. He looked behind him as he walked to see if the lady was still sitting on the rock. She was not there; some other people occupied the rock where she sat. He smiled and walked away. A page from my life, when my camera took the decision... Through my lens, the first time I saw her, she was taking pictures using her mobile phone. Her face was partially hidden. Neither did I click nor did I remove my camera. I continued gazing at her through my lens. In between, unintentionally, I clicked as I turned back when someone pushed me. But I couldn't see anyone around. I returned to my original position but was disappointed to see an empty bench where she sat. I looked around but in vain. Then, I browsed through my photos as I sat in a restaurant for lunch. I couldn't believe the last picture I clicked. The one I clicked accidentally was a pretty woman smilingly walking away from the bench, but to my surprise, she was looking at my lens! ©Krishnan #IFPWriting #Moment #microtale #feeelings #writer
